We are a small family owned vineyard and winery on picturesque Waiheke Island, just off the coast of Auckland, New Zealand. Our passion is Merlot and we have discovered a totally unique place to grow this wonderful grape. On a narrow rocky strip of and that is 30 million years older than the rest of the Island, and originates from South America, we have planted our 10 acre vineyard. Our site is a north facing slope of stony clay soil studded with manganese nodules. Being boutique in size allows us to carry out most of the vineyard work by hand. Our focus is on quality above all else. All the fruit used for Poderi Crisci wines is estate grown and selectively hand harvested. The grapes are extensively sorted in the vineyard to ensure that only the very best fruit comes into the winery, a second more intensive sorting process is then carried out prior to crushing.
